Welcome to Wezesha Newsletter
As we approach the close of 2024, we want to take a moment to reflect on the progress we’ve made this year. We remain committed to empowering citizens and governments to co-create high-quality public services through digital feedback platforms.

We’ve had a busy and productive few months in Tanzania. In August, the Ministry of Health approved a new phase of implementation for the testing and evaluation of a digital client feedback platform within the healthcare system. This marked the end of a period of design and validation for both how the technology and program would be delivered.
In October, Wezesha supported the government to launch the redesigned program in three districts in Tanga region and in five regional referral hospitals around the country. This is always the most inspiring part of our work to citizens getting the opportunity to engage in their healthcare system and seeing healthcare providers working hard to integrate new ideas into their ways of working.
Over the next 6-months, the team will focus testing new program features to drive both patient and healthcare provider engagement. In partnership with J-PAL we will also conduct an evaluation to learn more about the impact of the program and demonstrate the power of citizen voice to improve healthcare outcomes.

Thank you for your support
Looking ahead to next year, Wezesha is working with the government to finalise plans to scale the program to 25 districts across 10 regions of Tanzania, covering the wide range of contexts found across Tanzania.
Our goal is to elevate the voices of 1 million patients by the end of 2025. Throughout this phase we will conduct a randomised control trial (RCT) to evaluate the impact and cost-effectiveness of this program at scale, led by researchers from Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, Princeton University and the University of Columbia.
This phase of testing, scaling and evaluation has been generously supported by our partners at Grand Challenges Canada and The Fund for Innovation in Development.
As part of work to keep our partners and supporters updated on the latest news about our work we’re launching a quarterly newsletter to share details about our progress and what’s coming next.
