Wezesha, meaning “Empower” in Swahili, is a digital health non-profit with offices in the US and Tanzania. Our vision is to create a world where citizens and governments build high quality public services together. We’re on a mission to empower and connect citizens and governments to transform public services through digital engagement platforms.. We have begun this mission in the health sector in Tanzania. We are supporting the Government to develop a digital feedback service for citizens using healthcare facilities. This service provides healthcare decision-makers with actionable insights into care quality to influence management decision-making and drive improvements in service delivery.

We are inspired by rigorous academic research which shows that citizen feedback can deliver significant improvements in health outcomes. Over the next 3-years our goal is to support the government to scale the platform nationally, embed it within the government healthcare system and expand into two new markets and sectors. Our vision is to become a valued digital health partner elevating the voices of citizens across multiple countries and impacting the lives of hundreds of millions of people.

Position Overview

As a Fundraising & Partnerships Manager you will work closely with the CEO of the organisation and lead the prospecting, proposal generation, due diligence, grants management, and reporting to our funding partners. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, organised, adaptable, and have excellent writing skills.

Key Responsibilities

Prospecting and proposal generation

  • Sourcing: Build and manage a pipeline of partners and fundraising opportunities by researching, identifying and prioritising opportunities
  • Tracking: Manage the organisation’s funder and relationship management tool, ensuring consistent updates and follow-ups
  • Relationship building: Support the CEO’s partner engagement activities while also building and maintaining relationships with previous and potential funding partners
  • Strategy: Develop concepts for funding proposals and budgets that align with both our strategy and that of the funder.
  • Writing: Lead writing, and preparation of proposals, budgets from start to finish, ensure timeline submission
  • Due diligence: Oversee due diligence requests from potential partners, developing all necessary materials

Grants management and reporting

  • Monitoring: Monitor progress against grant deliverables (outputs, outcomes, budget) with Finance and Program teams
  • Relationship management: Support the CEO to provide clear and engaging updates to partners through the grant life cycle
  • Reporting: Maintain a reporting calendar and ensure that all reports are submitted on time

Qualifications

  4. Communication: Clear and proactive both verbal and written communication.
  5. Written communication: Excellent written communication skills with a focus on fundraising proposal development and report writing
  6. Organisation skills: Exceptional organisation, attention to accuracy and detail
  7. Fundraising experience (preferred): Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising and experience with grant writing
