Meet Naima Mbwana our Project Officer

  1. Can you tell us about your role at Wezesha and what excites you most about your work?
As a Program Officer for Monitoring, my main responsibility is to oversee and track the progress of our Digital client feedback program known as Afya Maoni, ensuring that we achieve our goals and deliver meaningful outcomes. I monitor the implementation of our Afya Maoni by collecting and analyzing data to assess their effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. I write detailed reports to inform our key stakeholders about our progress, successes, and challenges.
What excites me most about my work is being able to provide real-time insights that help refine our strategies and improve healthcare delivery at the community level.
  2. What inspired you to join Wezesha and work in the field of digital feedback
    platforms?
As a Registered Nurse, I have observed how patients’ voices about the quality of care they
receive often go unheard due to the absence of effective channels for delivering this
feedback to the right stakeholders. I was deeply inspired by Wezesha’s dedication to empowering citizens through technology and their innovative approach to enhancing healthcare services via digital feedback platforms. Leveraging digital tools to gather and analyze patient feedback presents a transformative and efficient way to improve healthcare delivery. The chance to contribute to a platform that enables meaningful data collection and supports informed decision-making in public health is something I find truly motivating.
  3. How do you feel your work contributes to Wezesha’s mission of empowering citizens and improving healthcare?
My role directly supports Wezesha’s mission by providing the data and insights needed to evaluate the success of the Afya Maoni Program. By monitoring and assessing the impact of our program, I help ensure that the feedback from citizens is accurately captured and used to enhance services. This contributes to informed decision-making, ensuring that the program is relevant, responsive, and effective in improving public health outcomes.
  4. What advice would you give someone looking to make a difference in public service
or digital feedback platforms? My advice would be to always focus on the end-users and the communities you aim to serve and ensure that their needs and voices are central to the work you do. In the realm of digital feedback platforms, understanding how to interpret data and use that information to drive positive change is key. Embrace a continuous learning mindset, stay adaptable, and be open to adjusting your approach based on feedback from those you serve.
  5. Who or what inspires you in your work?
I am inspired by the people we serve and their resilience. Seeing how our work directly impacts their lives, and knowing that the data and insights we provide contribute to better health outcomes, keeps me motivated. I am also inspired by my colleagues who work diligently to improve healthcare systems, their dedication and passion for creating positive change in public health inspire me to continueworking towards our mission.
  6. What do you like to do outside of work to stay energized?
Outside of work, I enjoy activities that help me unwind, such as reading books, taking walks, listening to a variety of podcasts, and experimenting with new cooking recipes. I also loveexploring new places, as they give me a fresh perspective and keep me energized for my
    work.
