Meet Rashid Mbunda, our Head of Implementation and Monitoring at Wezesha!

  1. Can you tell us about your role at Wezesha and what excites you most about your work?
As the Head of Implementation and Monitoring at Wezesha, my primary responsibility is ensuring the seamless execution and oversight of our projects, What excites me most is the opportunity to create a direct line of communication between citizens and governments, allowing for real-time feedback that can drive tangible improvements in healthcare and other services. It’s incredibly rewarding to see how technology can foster collaboration and accountability at such a meaningful level.

  2. What inspired you to join Wezesha and work in the field of digital health?
I was inspired by Wezesha’s mission to empower both citizens and governments to work together in building high-quality public services. The idea that a digital feedback platform can give citizens a voice in how services are delivered and improve government accountability resonated deeply with me. In the field of digital health, this has a profound impact—allowing us to ensure that healthcare services are more responsive to the needs of the people they serve. This intersection of technology, empowerment, and public service motivated me to join Wezesha.

  3. How do you feel your work contributes to Wezesha’s mission of empowering citizens and improving healthcare?
My role is instrumental in ensuring that the feedback loop between citizens and governments remains effective and impactful. By implementing and monitoring our digital client feedback program, I ensure that citizens’ voices are heard and that governments are able to respond in a timely and effective manner. This leads to better healthcare services, as the feedback we gather helps identify gaps, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement. Ultimately, my work supports Wezesha’s vision of creating a collaborative space where citizens and governments build better public services together.

  4. What advice would you give to someone looking to make a difference in public service or digital health?
My advice would be to embrace the power of listening and collaboration. In public service and digital health, the most impactful solutions often come from engaging with the communities you’re trying to serve. Listening to citizens, understanding their needs, and working closely with governments are key. Technology can be a powerful enabler, but it’s important to remember that it’s a tool to enhance human connections and improve service delivery. Also, be open to innovation—public services are evolving, and those who want to make a difference should be ready to evolve with them.

  5. Who or what inspires you in your work?
I’m inspired by the concept of empowerment that is at the heart of Wezesha’s mission. The idea that we can use technology to give citizens a voice and improve government transparency and accountability is incredibly motivating. Additionally, seeing how our platforms facilitate real change—from improved healthcare services to more responsive local governments—keeps me inspired to push for greater impact every day.

  6. What do you like to do outside of work to stay energised?
Outside of work, I am a social runner and I enjoy spending time with family to recharge . I also take time to reflect on the work we’re doing, which helps me stay grounded and energised.
