Meet Irene Chumi, our Director of Operations at Wezesha!

  1. Can you tell us about your role at Wezesha and what excites you most about your work?
I am currently the Director of operations. What excites me is that I am always on my toes. Juggling so many pieces, learning, and relearning as I execute various tasks across 6 departments is the best part of my job.

  2.  What inspired you to join Wezesha and work in the field of digital feedback platforms
    Two things-
    •Improvement of public services
    • Behavioural change – in no time, giving feedback will be a part of our day-to-day life making it easier for decision-makers to understand the gaps and make informed improvements.

  3. How do you feel your work contributes to Wezesha’s mission of empowering citizens and improving healthcare?
Operations are like the backbone of an organization. We mostly work behind the scenes, and our the impact might be not seen or felt unless something goes wrong. We keep the engine running from policy making, payments processing, branding and comms, and IT operations to ensuring logistics are well handled.

  4. What advice would you give to someone looking to make a difference in public service or digital feedback platforms?
Start from where it matters – the citizens.

  5. Who or what inspires you in your work?
The fact that we are making this world a better place, one step at a time.

  6. What do you like to do outside of work to stay energized?
Cooking. My kids call me the “chief cooker”. I enjoy waking up on Sat morning and cooking a big meal for my family and friends.
